Yes, I realize I don’t give out 5 stars very often. Not yet so far this year either. Why? Because I’m saving them for books I really like, books that sticks with me long after I’ve read them. Books, I’d be willing to re-read because I like it THAT much. Below are a list of a few books (prior to this blog) that I would rate a 5 star just so you guys will have an idea… aka books I really like (that I can remember at least). Yes, though I really like them, that does not mean they don’t have their flaws/ things I don’t like about them.
1. Harry Potter Series – JK Rowling
YAASS~ Fellow Potterhead here~ although reading it as an adult, Harry is such a brat! It wasn’t until after the third movie came out that I got really into it so the first time I read it, I actually started at book 4. I didn’t officially read the whole series until 2016 or 2017. I even listened to the audiobook version of it (which I don’t do often). One of the few books that I saw it happening as I read (flew) through it so it didn’t really even feel like reading. Know that I mean?!
2. The Kite Runner – Khaled Hosseini
It’s a dark, touching, and very sad story. It gives you all the feels! I read it my junior year in high school and it still sticks with me to this day. I still remember all the important parts clearly, if not every detail. I have yet to re-read it but I would like to eventually.
3. The Alchemist – Paulo Coelho
Maybe I just read it at the right time in my life, or maybe it’s just really good. It made me feel like I could do ANYTHING. It’s definitely a feel good book with lots of life lessons albeit super super cliche. lol. Pick it up if you’re feeling down.
4. The Rithmatist – Brandon Sanderson
Brandon Sanderson’s first YA novel that may or may not become a series. This is my first book by him. I have yet to read his adult fantasies but I plan to eventually (They’re just so big and intimidating!). Surprisingly, I REALLY enjoyed this novel. A lot of the YA novels I’ve read (so far as of 2018) have average to low ratings, but I felt he did a really good job with the world and character building as well as the magic system in this novel. The overall story was well written and thought out in my opinion. The story is not lost to romance like so many YA novels (you know it’s kind of there without him having to throw it in your face) and they don’t always bicker over dumb YA tropes-stuff. I definitely recommend it!
There’s more, but I cannot for the life of me think of them. So the list will continue to update as I remember them.
